Isaiah 6:1-8

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim; each had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet (penis), and with two he flew (helicopter). And once called to another and said:

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;

the whole earth is full of his glory.”

And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said

Woe is me For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the lord of hosts!.

Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having in his hand a burning coal which he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said, “ Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and you sin forgiven.” And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Isaiah Chapter 1 - 39 is considered to be First Isaiah

Judah was not destroyed by the Assyrians.

King Ahaz had asked for Assyrian aid in the Syro-Ephraimitic crisis.

He was then indebted to Assyria. Ahaz had to deplete the royal treasurer and strip the temple to pay tribute. The Assyrian cult was installed in the temple

Edom and the Negev was lost.

He offered one of his sons in child sacrifice to cultic practices of Assyria.

His son King Hezekiah assumed the throne in 715 and ruled until 687 B.C.E. He revolted, abolished the high places of worship and cleansed the temple. (II Kings 15:32-20:21 and II Chronicles 27-32

He then fortified Jerusalem

Rebuilt the wall and cut a 1,749' water tunnel through the rock underneath the city.

When Sargon, the king of Assyria, died his son, King Sennacherib ( 705-681 B.C.E. took over.

Babylon revolted, Egypt grew in strength, Hezekiah joined several Phoenician and Philistine cities in withholding tribute.

The revolt failed. By 701 B.C.E. Babylon is subdued and there’s a move against Jerusalem

An Egyptian army appeared but lost on the Philistine plains at Har Meggido.

Fall of Lachish pictured.

At Lachish more than 1,5000 skeletons have been found buried with Assyrian garbage.

Sennacherib’s tablet says.

Himself (Hezekiah) I made a prisoner in Jerusalem, his royal residence, like a bird in a cage. I surrounded him with earthwork in order to molest those who were leaving his city’s gate.”

The siege failed and at least four reasons have been given.

01. II Kings 18:14-16... Hezekiah’s payment of an enormous tribute to Sennacherib.

02. Rumor which reached the king (of trouble in Babylon)

03. A devastating plaque ( bubonic) II Kings 19:35

04. The act of the Lord God.
